The Calvin Theatre in downtown Northampton was designed and decorated in a lavish style. Opened in 1924 it had uniformed doormen and ushers, red walls with gilt trim and curtains of heavy brocade. Unlike other theaters in the area, the Calvin was a movie house, set on featuring the best and biggest Hollywood had to offer.
