An old label identifies this mukak as an "Indian Birch Bark Bottle. Picked up at South Deerfield, Mass., after the 'Bloody Brook massacre,' in 1675 when Capt. Lathrop and 76 men were killed by Indians." It is Abenaki and dates from the late 17th to early 18th century.
