In this list of hints for school masters, teachers are advised to be reasonable and patient with their students. They are also advised to explain subjects rather than just teach by rote, so the students comprehend what they are being asked to learn. Teachers are reminded that they are in part responsible for forming the characters of their students and thus, they must be cognizant of the importance of their actions. The Greenfield Gazette and Franklin Herald was the newspaper in Greenfield, Massachusetts, from June 26, 1827 to June 27, 1837. It changed its name to the Gazette & Mercury.
