This ticket is for a memorial service for President Abraham Lincoln at the Boston Music Hall. It is interesting to note that ticket holders must be in their seats at 2 3-4 o'clock. Today this would be written as 2:45. The Boston Music Hall was built in 1852 and housed the first concert organ in the country. The organ was ordered from a German builder in 1857 and was inaugurated on November 2, 1863. The final cost of this organ was $60,000, an enormous amount of money at the time. It is possible that this organ was played during the memorial service for the slain president.
