This is the type of badge worn by employees of Raytheon Manufacturing Company's secret plant in Greenfield, Massachusetts, during World War II (WWII). This badge was worn by Constance Olszewski of Montague, Massachusetts, who worked at the plant as a teenager during the summer of 1945. The Raytheon Company produced the bases for miniature radio tubes and electronic circuit boards that were used in "proximity fuzes" during the war. Historians agree that WWII was ultimately won on the home front. America's ability to produce massive materials required to fight a global war enabled the Allies to grind the enemy into submission.
