This photograph, taken c. 1860, pictures the stone railroad arch, built in 1846 in Deerfield, Massachusetts. The dirt road carried people, horses, and carriages through the arch and the railroad tracks ran above. Formed as the New Haven and Northampton Railroad Company, in 1909 the line became the New York, New Haven, and Hartford Company.
