Built in the second half of the 19th century to accommodate travelers from the nearby railroad, the Hotel Warren took its name from William Warren who owned it, with Thomas Ahearn, in 1901. In the early 20th century the first floor had a dining room, kitchen, servants' dining room, Dutch room, tap room, parlor, serving room, and lobby with twenty-two sleeping rooms on the floors above. The front porch, with its screen of ivy, provided a place for guests to relax and visit. The hotel had a wide reputation for its excellent home-cooked foods.
