One of the five deeds surviving between English and Native people, this deed, like the others, is written in language common in British legal documents. The uncommon quality is when boundaries and place names are mentioned - they are all called by Native names. The payment to the Natives was 20 fadam. The deal was consumated on July 22, 1667, several years before the first English settlers began to come to Deerfield, alias Pocumtuck.
