"The Pocumtuc Housewife; A Guide to Domestic Cookery"

This guide to domestic cookery, published by a group of Deerfield women in 1906, contains recipes (or "receipts") for breads, pies, custards, pickles, etc. In addition it provides advice on preserving good health ("Shun the night air as you would the Plague."), how to feed and care for the sick, and even how to dye cloth. Cookbooks published in the 19th century were full of household tips and this 20th-century version imitates both the contents and the language of these early publications.
