Published by the National League of Handicraft Societies in October 1911, this issue of "Handicraft" illustrates a series of symbols from the then current arts and crafts societies. The organizations are from as far away as Baltimore, Maryland and as close as Deerfield, Massachusetts. The crafts revived in different geographical areas were peculiar to the resources and talents of those areas, but all shared the same philosophy; that of the importance of preserving the hand-made techniques in an age of increasing industrialization.
