Deerfield Feby 11th 1787
Gent
I shall be at Colerain this forenoon with about six hundred
troops, for whom you are required to provide wood, forage and
sufficient room to receive them, for which you will be paid.
You may, if you please, advise the privates of your
town, who have been in arms against the government, to
surrender themselves, to deliver up their arms and to take
the oath of allegiance, and assure them that if thus conduct
thus submissively, I will recommend them to the
mercy of the General Court.
I am, Gent, your humble servant,
Wm Shepard
