Esqr Governor of the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts.
To Benjamin Got. Maynard
Gentleman---Greeting
You being appointed Quarter Master of
the second Regiment in the second Bri-
gade and seventh Division of the militia
of this Commonwealth, comprehending
the County of Worcester.

By virtue of the power vested in me I do by these
presents, reposing special trust and confidence in your ability,
integrity and good conduct commission you accordingly: You
are therefore carefully and diligently to discharge the duty
of Quarter Master to the said Regiment in all things apper-
taining thereto, observing such orders and instructions as you
shall from time to time receive from any your superior Officers.
Given under my hand and the Seal of the said Com-
monwealth this fourth day of June Anno Domini 1788 and
in the Twelfth year of the Independence of the United
States of America.

Benjamin Maynard was appointed Quartermaster of the 2nd Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 7th Division of the Massachusetts Militia in June 1788. As Quartermaster, he is to observe orders and instructions from his superiors officers. This commission is a standard government form with the signature of the Governor, John Hancock, and the seal of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
