Dear Brothers George & Augustus

I received your kind
letter yesterday morning you may pledge the pleasure
it afforded me to hear for the first time since I left
home from any member of the family, except by the
way of Jones Howe for he is here taking lessons of
Caroline in drawing he enjoyed himself very well. I
think he will make a very good painter by much
practice he improves very fast. Aunt Caroline is
very much pleased with his drawing, he received
a letter from Benjamin about a week ago he
is in Barre gets $36 per month enjoys a good
health and gives Jonas? very good advice. I took
some of it myself. Bye the way I am much
obliged to you for your good advice and
shall follow it as far as possible.

I called upon John Willson yesterday he is well
and wishes to be remembered so you I also saw
Lemuel Clark he is at Bridgewater at school
he told me Edwin was in Springfield again.
I also had short call from Frank Hawks, James
Stebbins, they staid in the city about a week
Mr Fogg and Mr Charles Stebbins from Richmond
are here but I have not seen them

In this letter dated March 6, 1841, Joseph Fuller mentions a Whig ball at Faneuil Hall in Boston on March 4 as well as one in Deerfield, Massachusetts on the same day. These balls were held to celebrate the inauguration of William Henry Harrison as the 9th President of the United States. Harrison, who led the Whig party, won the 1840 election by only about 6 percent of the popular vote, but a landslide victory in the electoral college; 234 votes to 60 for Martin Van Buren.
