The founders of the Memorial Hall Museum considered the furniture in this room to be so valuable that the Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association added a fireproof wing to the Museum to house it. Notice the straight lines that make up the design of the painted "Hadley" chest and the "great" chair. These pieces of furniture are from an earlier time period than the ones with curved lines. The curves can be seen in the legs of the table, the lines of the Windsor chairs, the reverse curves of the mirror, and the legs on the tall chest. All the items were made in the Connecticut River Valley.
