While it is possible that this old buggy was left out in the fields to go to ruin, it is more likely that it was dragged out of a barn and the neighborhood children were encouraged to hop on board to have their picture taken. The Allen sisters of Deerfield, Massachusetts, were well known for their photographs of rural children.
