In 1912, the people of Bernardston, Massachusetts, celebrated the 150th anniversary of the town's birth with a parade. Celebrations like this reminded long-time townspeople of the town's history, while teaching newcomers and children about the dress, customs and hardships of the town's earlier people. The children on this horse-drawn float are dressed in a hodge-podge of old-fashioned clothing to remind people of the 'olden times.'
