Thomas Wells of Hadley, Massachusetts, died in 1676 at age 56, leaving no will. His widow remarried 18 months later. When she died in 1691 at age 60, the courts wrote up a distribution of their property and land to make sure that the relatives got their fair share. Of the 11 children alive when the father died, 2 more had died by 1690. The distribution names the 9 family members left alive and gives them each some money, noting the amounts already received.
