Beauty marks were considered so fashionable in the eighteenth century that people put on false ones if they had no real marks. Users stored the tiny items in a patch box like this one. Patches were long out of fashion when Partridge Fiske gave his bride Lydia Dickinson this heirloom, which had written on it "Constant to Thee I'll Ever Be" upon their marriage in 1824.
