Made and owned in the Connecticut River Valley of Massachusetts, this quilt has a bold design of a central plant or tree springing from a large heart at the base - like a design called the "tree of life". It was made in about 1795by Olive Curtiss Baker of Granville, Massachusetts. The stitching style and designs of bed quilts were first done on petticoats. The quilt is made all of wool, the top and bottom of woven fabric and the filler of sheep's wool.
