Hamsphire ss. To the SHERIFF of the said County of Hampshire
or either of his DEPUTIES, or any of the CONSTABLES of the Town of
Rowe within the same County, Greeting.

IN the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts,
you are required to attach the Goods or Estate of Standish Foster
of Rowe in said County yeoman
aforesaid,
to the Value of Sixteeen pounds and for Want
thereof to take the Body of the said Standish
if he may be found in your Precinct, and him safely keep, so that he may be had
before me John Williams Esq; one of the Justices of the Peace
for the County, aforesaid, at my Dwelling-House in Deerfield on Monday
the fifth Day of May next at two of the Clock in the
after-noon: Then and there to answer to Daniel Coon of Rowe of
in said County yeoman--and Confession make, if he see Cause, of the
demand in a plea of the case for that whereas the said Daniel at
sd: Rowe to wit at Deerfield aforesaid on the seventh day
of September October last was possessed of a mare of a black
color & twelve years of age as of his own possessed goods & chattels of the value as the Plt. avers
of eight pounds lawful money & after as of his & after
made to wit on the fourteenth day of the same Octo-
-ber of said Rowe casually lost the same out of his
possession, & the said Standish found the same, & knew the said
Mare to be the property of the Plt., yet the said Standish converted
the same Mare to his own use & refused to deliver the same to the
Plt. tho' requested to the damage of the said Coon as he saith the sum of Six
teen pounds as shall then and there appear, with other due Damages. Hereof fail not, and
make due Return of this Writ, and of your Doings therein, unto myself, at or before
the said fifth Day of May-
Dated at Deerfield aforesaid, the 12th tenth Day of March
in the Year of our Lord, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty-eight.
