This sermon, preached by Rev. John Taylor (1762-1840) in Deerfield, Massachusetts, was supposed to remind local people of the French and Indian raid of one hundred years before. Taylor discusses how no town in the colony suffered "from the depredations of the natives equally with Deerfield." Taylor was the first to use the word "massacre" to describe the 1704 attack.
