This pillow cover was made at the Sheldon Tapestry Factory in England and was brought to Massachusetts by the Reverend Edward Taylor in 1668. Edward Taylor became the minister of Westfield, Massachusetts. He wrote poetry and was among the finest Colonial poets. His poems remained unpublished until 1939, when they were considered one of the great discoveries of literature for the twentieth century. His grandson, the Reverend John Taylor, who was Deerfield's minister from 1787 to 1806, presented it to the Deerfield Academy Museum.
