Between 1900 and 1920, the Norman Photo Company of Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts, took this picture of Emma Lewis Coleman (1853-1942). The picture shows Miss Coleman standing straight and dressed in medieval clothing. Emma Coleman was herself a good photographer and a serious researcher who, with her fellow historian Charlotte Alice Baker, made trips to Canada to gather information about Deerfield children taken captive in February 1704.
